The Maccaferri MacRes® system is a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall system, comprised of precast concrete facing panels and discrete high tenacity coated polyester strips. The performance of the MacRes® system depends primarily on the interaction between the polymeric geostrips and the surrounding reinforced backfill as the tensile forces in the soil are transferred to the reinforcements by means of friction.

MacRes® is a flexible vertical faced system, easy to construct and capable to withstand high seismic load. MacRes® has been used on projects worldwide for various applications such as bridges , railways, highways, airports, quarries and other industrial areas.

The precast concrete facing panels have a standard square shape (1.50 m x 1.50 m) and a 14 cm minimum thickness. The concrete panels are available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes and the front face can be finished with a broad range of textures. The staggered pattern of the façade is obtained by alternating a full standard panel and a half panel at the bottom of the wall. The ParaWeb® reinforcing strips are mechanically connected to the facing through a polymeric connection element called MacLoop embedded into the concrete panel. The number of connections varies according to the project design requirements.

The precast concrete facing panels are designed based on a minimum concrete compressive strength at 28 days of 37 MPa. Concrete panels may be reinforced with steel rebars or welded wire reinforcements.
