As someone who has worked extensively with as-built drawings, I can say they are essential in identifying discrepancies between the original design and the final construction. During the construction phase, on-site conditions often lead to modifications—whether it's due to unforeseen structural issues, material substitutions, or design changes requested by the client. As-builts capture these changes accurately, allowing architects like myself to compare the initial plans with the completed structure. This helps in future maintenance, renovations, or even legal compliance, ensuring that any deviations are well-documented and accounted for. Without as-builts, you’re essentially working with an outdated blueprint that no longer reflects reality.
