In my practical experience, the transition from CAD to BIM has revolutionized how teams collaborate on complex projects. BIM provides a central model where all disciplines architecture, structural, and MEP can integrate their work, allowing real-time updates and automated clash detection. This has drastically reduced coordination issues, saving both time and costs. On large-scale infrastructure projects, the ability to visualize changes and share data seamlessly has improved decision-making and minimized the risk of errors, which was a challenge with 2D CAD.
