I see a lot of time is taken in some schemes being modelled all in 3D. I think sometimes need to step back and look at the scheme. Does this need to be modelled or can this be 2D element?
Yes understand this is subject to what level of BIM you need to achieve on a scheme. But its takes more time on the same fee as before if it was in CAD.

Timothy its the same with LOD, Does the client need LOD 500? when LOD 400 is best level to be for client unless they are going to use COBIE. Just think you need to make sure the client understands the different between levels, and what level sure you will provide for the fee. Still feel clients still do not understand BIM.

Excellent point. It is also worth bearing in mind what is required at each stage of the project. For example, at concept stage you might not be picking specific products as the scheme is at too early a stage to define that. This is called the level of information/detail (LOD). More information usually equals more time, more time equals more fee. you should only be providing the level of information prescribed for any stage. It also avoids abortive works.
