As an MEP professional, the first priority when reviewing MEP drawings is to check for spatial coordination among mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This involves carefully examining the layout to ensure that components like ductwork, electrical conduits, and plumbing pipes do not conflict or interfere with one another, especially in tight or congested areas like ceiling spaces, utility shafts, or mechanical rooms. The goal is to confirm that all systems can coexist harmoniously without requiring costly on-site adjustments. To achieve this, it is often necessary to use BIM (Building Information Modeling) software, which allows for clash detection and visualizes the integration of all systems in a 3D environment. By identifying and resolving these conflicts during the design phase, construction delays and rework are minimized, ensuring a smoother and more efficient installation process.
