LUXURY RIVERSIDE AND WOODLAND HOMES TAKE SHAPE IN DEVON …WITH STELRAD RADIATORS TO KEEP THEM WARM!

Property developer Simon Friend - owner of developer Red Earth – has breathed new life into the delightful old building that was the River Yealm Hotel in Newton Ferrers.

Fourteen idyllic apartments and one beautiful contemporary house now sit gently on the hillside overlooking the river Yealm estuary.

He has created six gorgeous luxury homes in the old building that has been a key part of the local environment for more than a century. Then there are two contemporary buildings, each housing four more apartments and a separate three-bedroom house, all within touching distance of the River Yealm and its tantalising array of yachts and smaller boats – bobbing quietly in the harbour. The boats are moored as far as the eye can see, until the river bends around to meet the sea in front of the villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo in the glorious South Hams, just along the coast from Plymouth. Contractors on the project are Devon Contractors and installers of the radiators and heating systems were Devon Plumbing Solutions.

These are stunning homes, priced at around £1,000,000 each – and as such, they demand an incredibly high specification, and this is where Stelrad’s designer radiators – its Vita Column and Compact with Style models – come into play, to provide the reliable levels of heat they will need in the colder months of the year.

The new development is sensitively designed to create homes with some of the most amazing views on the Devon coast, taking a neglected site and turning it into a highly desirable collection of new homes – ideal for lovers of the sea and those with a love of sailing in particular. The development has its own access to this beautiful natural harbour, with steps down by the harbour master’s office, literally a stone’s throw from the entrance to the new development.

Simon Friend is understandably pleased with the way the new development looks and feels: “Getting a sensitive match between the new and the old is always a challenge, but the plans for the new elements showed a change of style and materials, creating a more contemporary finish. These ideas extended to smaller details like the choice of radiators – with the Vita Column radiators perfectly matching the historical features of the original hotel building and the more modern, designer looks of the Compact with Style radiators creating a bridge between the older elements and the modern styling we managed to incorporate in these expansive apartments.”

“We’re really pleased that our radiators have been specified in this project,” says Head of Marketing for Stelrad, Chris Harvey. “Our radiators are selected to bring out the best in a wide range of homes, new and old but they provide something very special as part of homes and developments of this quality and uniqueness. We often don’t see where our radiators end up being installed but when we do and they are utilised to add to the overall design and style of a range of homes like these, we feel very proud of what we do.”
