Donaldson Timber Systems provides a range of conventional pre-formed trussed rafter solutions. These include pre-fabricated roof trusses, with all gable ladders, spandrel panels, diminishing trusses and pre-cut hip floor materials and infill timbers. Truss rafter solutions are common place and require a safety deck to be installed during construction. Typically roofs are installed using a crane and are installed in component format on the timber frame wall head.
Where higher levels of air tightness are required a separate air tightness membrane and batten is required, taped and sealed at perimeters and intermediate edges, as a separate return visit after the building is water tight.
Ground roof erect, in some circumstances space permitting, it is possible to pre-form the roof as a module at ground level, felted and battened and lifted as a roof module direct onto the timber frame wall head, without need for a safety deck system. Typically the timber frame is erected beforehand, whilst the roof module is be made on site beforehand.
